Standard Post

Advanced, widely available technologies, changes in warfare doctrine, and the real threat of near-peer adversaries require innovative solutions now. This is particularly notable in the Indo-Pacific region, where known and anticipated hostility and aggressions combine with uniquely challenging geographical, logistical, and political considerations. Concerns like climate change and its repercussions also require new ways of doing business. Traditional thinking and traditional solutions will not fit the bill. One of the most powerful means to support military innovation is to look towards the immense capabilities and insights of the commercial sector. Traditional military R&D and acquisition are no match for a highly responsive, highly adaptive cycle of commercial development. The battlefield of tomorrow is today; it is autonomous, electric, connected and. Embracing commercial technology, where and when it best applies to military needs, is one of the most effective ways to meet modern challenges.

NavalX SoCal Tech Bridge is a key proponent of military/commercial partnerships. Innovative ideas and technologies can be assessed efficiently and effectively, enabling best-of-commercial innovation to be available for military needs. Of the NavalX SoCal Tech Bridge’s select pilots, eTHOR– the electric Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response unit – is one of its unique capabilities. The project team, composed of proven partners NIWC-PAC, DANNAR, AWS, and CANA LLC, are organizations and companies that are experts in, and passionate about, developing and promoting nascent technology.

eTHOR is an integrated, electric, semi-autonomous mobile power station coupled with high speed, low latency, high bandwidth 5G capabilities. eTHOR’s agility and traditional fuel independence, coupled with the ability to store, transport and export power, support the dispersion and discretion of forces. The powerful combination of 5G, 4G LTE, SatCom, and mesh networking with secure cloud computing and forward edge processing into a single vehicle agnostic payload can maintain communications, support positive command and control, advance more robust sensing capabilities, and enable AI and autonomy. eTHOR is designed to thrive on the modern battlefield as well as meet the needs of a more ecologically aware global environment.

A live eTHOR demonstration and testing are planned for 7 to 8 June 2023 at Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA), Camp Pendleton, CA, and will test eTHOR functionality within a variety of military vignettes. Data gathered will be used for continued modeling, simulation, and analysis, creating digital environments that synthesize the results of innumerable iterations of experimentation. The demonstration and testing event will support validation that there is a real, tested, and expeditious transition path for commercial integrated technology into the military operating environment.

Partners/Fill In The Blank Posts

The battlefield is transforming; we're not just catching up, we’re helping to create the change. Widely available technologies, evolving geo-political concerns, and near-peer adversaries require adaptability and innovation. Concerns like climate change and its effects also require new ways of doing business. Traditional military R&D and acquisition are no match for the highly responsive, highly adaptive cycle of commercial development. Embracing commercial technology, where and when it best applies to military needs, is one of the most effective ways to meet modern challenges.

[Insert name here] partnership with NavalX SoCal Tech Bridge is a prime example of how best-of commercial innovation can be adapted, integrated so the combination is greater than the sum of its parts, and then utilized in military operations. NavalX SoCal Tech Bridge’s ongoing pilot, eTHOR– the electric Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response unit – is one such result. Our project team, composed of organizations and companies such as [insert partners here], are expert in, and passionate about, developing and promoting nascent technology.

eTHOR is an integrated, electric, semi-autonomous mobile power station coupled with high speed, low latency, and high bandwidth 5G capabilities. Its small agile footprint and traditional fuel independence, coupled with exportable power, supports the dispersion and discretion of forces. The 5G and other high bandwidth and low latency capabilities can maintain communications, support command and control, advance more robust sensing capabilities, and enable AI and autonomy. These are not just buzzwords, they are must-haves in this advanced, digital world.

A live eTHOR demonstration is planned for 7 to 8 June 2023 at the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA), Camp Pendleton, CA. The event will validate that [insert name here] can help define a real and expeditious transition path for commercial integrated technology into the military operating environment. This demonstration will inspire you.
